ECoGREEN Project Closure Marks the Beginning of a Broader Sustainability Movement

The Erasmus+ ECoGREEN Project formally concluded its three-year journey during the Project Closing Event and Closure Consortium Meeting, held on 9–10 February 2026 at Parahyangan Catholic University. More than a ceremonial conclusion, the event served as a strategic reflection on ECoGREEN’s collective achievements and, importantly, a launching point for future sustainability collaboration beyond the project’s official funding cycle.

Over two days, representatives from all consortium institutions—including Indonesian partner universities alongside European collaborators Hasselt University and Wageningen University & Research—reviewed the implementation and outcomes of the project’s six integrated Work Packages. Discussions reflected on advances in curriculum innovation, green entrepreneurial capacity building, sustainable campus development, business ecosystem strengthening, and dissemination of sustainability knowledge through open educational resources, publications, and conferences.

A major milestone of the closing event was the inauguration of the Consortium on Ecoliteracy and Sustainability (CELS)—a new collaborative platform intended to institutionalise and extend ECoGREEN’s mission beyond the lifespan of the project. The establishment of CELS signals that ECoGREEN’s legacy will continue through new partnerships, future initiatives, and sustained inter-university cooperation dedicated to sustainability transformation in higher education and society.

The event also featured an Erasmus+ information session, policy dialogue, partner matchmaking activities, and strategic conversations on future collaborative opportunities, reinforcing a shared ambition not merely to preserve ECoGREEN’s outcomes, but to scale them. Participant feedback reflected strong satisfaction with the event and an overwhelming willingness to remain engaged in future initiatives—demonstrating that the network, energy, and collective commitment built through ECoGREEN remain active and forward-looking.

While the project has formally closed, its mission continues. ECoGREEN leaves behind more than reports, modules, and activities—it leaves a living ecosystem of institutions, educators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers committed to advancing sustainability through education, innovation, and collaborative action.
