Waste reduction

Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU) actively promotes waste reduction through cross-disciplinary education, research, and community engagement. Various programs—from ecobrick-making workshops to student exhibitions like Aksarasa—encourage creative reuse and critical awareness about food and plastic waste. Faculties such as Environmental Technology, Visual Communication Design, and Food Technology integrate sustainable practices into their curriculum by inviting students to rethink consumption patterns and explore innovative product solutions. Additionally, SCU has collaborated with external partners such as Yayasan Bintari and the University of San Carlos to address waste issues in urban contexts, contributing to both local and international dialogue on reducing environmental impact. These initiatives demonstrate SCU’s commitment to embedding waste reduction into its academic culture and campus life.
