The Sustainability Competition initiated in collaboration with PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL) has now entered its first stage: product sketching. At this stage, students from the Faculty of Creative Industry at the University of Surabaya (UBAYA) are challenged to transform discarded company uniforms into new, valuable products. Through creativity and innovation, fabrics that were once considered outdated and no longer functional are given a new life in more sustainable forms.
This competition is not only a test of the students’ design skills but also a way to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet through recycling. Each sketch represents the hope that textile waste can be turned into products that are not only aesthetically appealing but also practical and environmentally friendly.
With the spirit of #SPILCare and #nurtureourplanet, this collaboration between academia and industry marks a concrete step toward green innovation. It demonstrates how the creativity of young generations can bring forward sustainable solutions and drive positive change toward a better future.
